bouncy ride 84 240
I just bought a 1984 240 dl. It has a terrible bouncy ride. In essence, the center of gravity is too high. It has gas shocks and heavy duty springs, perhaps done to improve its towing ability (has a hitch). The car "rocks" at highway speeds, to the point I considerate it unsafe to operate on the interstate by my recently licensed teens. If kept in a perfect forward attitude (driving perfectly straight) everythings hunky dory, but try a lane change at 70 mph without respect for the forementioned, and, "woo hoo", mr mouse's wild ride. Is there anything short of replacing all shocks that will rectify the problem?

is the stock front anti-sway bar and its mounting pieces properly attached and all the rubber bits properly attached? side to side lean is usually a anti-sway bar problem. the front swaybars on the 240 have two 'links' that attach to the suspension control arms, if the rubber ends on these get shot, all bets are off.
'gas shocks' could mean almost anything, the stock shocks on a 240 were Boge low pressure gas struts/shocks.
our 240 sedan has ancient struts/shocks that haven't been replaced since forever and it has rear overload springs, and its ride is pretty darn stable even when rocking and rolling up a narrow twisty mountain road at elevated speeds. it DOES have newer suspension bushings.
