Brake Junction Block
Fall of 2022 I replaced my brake junction block, calipers and brake pads on my 85' 240DL. I hadn't heeded the warnings and had done a pedal brake bleed, causing it to leak from the connector point which I discovered months later. Fast forward I purchased a new one, put it on and discovered that it was leaking from a side bolt, apparently a warranty issues. They sent me a new one, this time did a gravity bleed on the system. Although apparently, I still had air in the lines because the brake failure light blinked on, and brakes went soft every now and then. So here I am with my lovely beast sitting on jacks, tires off and have bleed the system 3 times only to have the brake failure light on, soft brakes and a slow leak from the brake junction block connector gasket again.
I took the connector piece off the block, cleaned it up and tightened it back in, but unsure how much is too tight. Does it need a new gasket, I have a few extra brake junction blocks to take parts from. I am also going to bite the bullet and buy a pressure bleeder as another pint of DOT 4. Any suggestions about what I am doing wrong or should do, or any another possible problem that might be hindering the brakes from being bled properly?
