Hi - I just got a 88 740GLE. I was told the rear brake light goes off randomly. The previous owner showed me the last tail light he replaced. It seems it was cracked and rain went in and shorted out the light. He replaced it but it works sometimes and sometimes it does not.
Can anyone make a suggestions. I live in NY and they will ticket for a brake light that is out.

The circuit board might be bad. Also make sure the Taillight plastic around the socket isn't melted and deformed.
