Hey everyone, my brake lights are stuck on no matter if I am braking or not. I checked the brake light switch, and it is not the culprit ( goes in and out fine with no catching or sticking). Another odd finding is that the brake lights go off if I turn off the headlights. What could be the cause? Also the brake light warning light is on. Thank you for your ideas in advance.

 

What series is it? The rear lamps have running lights that are on, but dim when the headlights or parking lamps are on. When you have the headlights on, have a buddy hit the brakes for you. The brake lights should get brighter.

 

It's a 1988 244 Gl. I think I may have figured it out. I think it was the circuit board for the right taillight. It looks fried and when I unplugged it, the brake light in the rear windshield turned off. I ordered another circuit board since my only spare was a driver's side. I'll update when I get it installed in a few days.
