Default Buying 740 Turbo Wagon

I'm looking to buy a 740 turbo wagon with a 162,000 miles from my buddy. When i went to look at it the engine sounded a little loud i was just wondering if this was normal for these vehicles. Also any other problem areas anyone can enlighten me about would be much appreciated.

How Loud would you say. I have a 91 745t and it is a pretty loud car. The fuel pumps are probably the noisiest things on these cars.

Edit: as long as your buddy put a little TLC (time love and care) then the car should give you no problems if you do too.
