Default can you eliminate the ignition module

Hi I have an 89 volvo 240dl in which I'm making a demolition car out of. I beleive that the ignition module is no good, so i was woundering if it can be elminated, but any means>> I don't know how much one is worth but I'm guessing its a lot. I'm pricing one out tommarow and if its not much I'll buyone

i dont think it will run without ignition module...it takes the signals from cam and crank sensors and makes the sparkplugs fire, without it i dont see how it would know when to fire the spark plugs
