Default Chassis wiring, running a wire to the doors

Hey guys!

I am hoping to set up some sound reactive LEDs in the speaker area of my 1993 Volvo 940. This means I am going to need to run power to them, I think it'd be best to run a wire through the chassis? When you open the door you see a black tube, I am assuming it contains the speaker wire, power for the power windows and the locks, where does this start and how could I run 2 small wires through it? Any suggestions? I am open to other ideas, but I think this would be best.

Thanks!

Yes, the black tubes are for the other indoor components.
You will need to remove the door panels to fine the best power source.
I would then remove the lower trim pieces to run the wires to the rear doors.

No I mean I need to get the power source through the tube, because its going through a inverter and a switch on my dash, it'd need to go from my dash through the tube to the doors, to the leds...I hope I am being clear enough...
Thanks for the quick reply!

Okay....So you are going to run the wires through the tubes?

What part of the dash will the switch be....assuming driver side.

Not sure if its even going to be in the dash, I just wanted to point you in the right direction I guess....I was actually thinking somewhere between the middle console and the drivers seat, easy access, not exactly in the way of anything, enough room...

But yeah, exactly I want to run the wires through the tubes , Unless there is an easier way of course...

You will have to run them through the tubes on the doors...and If you feel like pulling up the carpet, you could run them under.....
I think the lower dash would be the best way to run the wires, then feed it to the center.
The wires run to the lower dash....

The red lines is the basic run of the wires...

I dont have the car right now...so I am going of of my short memory....

You will have to remove the door panels, and some of the lower trim pieces, which are highlighted in the attachemnt below.... There will be hidden torque screws under the caps in the trim pieces..... The lower dash is in three pieces (the lower pedal plate, the colored interior piece and a black metal plate behind the colored interior piece). There are 2 plastic screws holding the bottem pedal piece, three torque bolts holding the outer piece, and six torque bolts holding the metal plate.....then the undersid of the dash should be exposed. The side trim piece which covers the seat belts, should only have 2 torque screws. and the driver side lower trim piece has 3 torque screw covered by rectangular trim covers.....The door panels have three white clips at the bottom, which need to be pulled out eith a pair of pliars, then you unscrew the door lock trim piece, and slide the speaker grill so it can come off.

Then all that is left is to find the exsiting wires and feed your new wires through the same holes.... I can explain it better on wednesday when I get my car back.....Or you can wait for someone else to show you......

I am refering to my 91 745...

Your 93 940 should be very similar if not identical.

Here is the under side that needs to be removed: and the exposed lower side.

Good luck....post back if your stuck.

Yup thats exactly what it looks like!

Do the wires actually run through the chassis or anything? or would just taking out the trim and molding expose them?

Maybe...I dont remember....

I would just undo the trim pieces and there should be a set of wires towards/under the edge of the carpet...That is where I would run them....

I just gutted my car on monday so I can install a black interior....I will also be running wires for my speaker system, and I might move the battery to the boot....
