Default check engine light

Hello,
I am new to the forum and have a problem. The check engine light is on in my 95' 940 wagon and it will not pass emmissions because of this. The O2 sensor has been replaced as well as the mass airflow meter. Any ideas of what this might be? My Mechanic cannot seem to get it right. Help!

Have the fault codes been cleared?

yes, the codes have been checked and cleared. The place I brought it to was RADAIR. Kind of a generic service station. Think I might have better luck bringing it to someone who deals with volvo's more often?

My '90 245 sometimes shows "check engine", even though pulling the codes shows no problem. I just clear the buffer in the code reader, then disconnect the battery for 10 minutes. Might be worth a try.
