Default Chinese fuse stops the Ovlov again

So today, a cheap Chinese ceramic fuse killed the old girl stone dead. It had me fooled, so had to get poor Ovlov towed home. All seemed OK this morning but at midday the engine died shortly after startup. I have been caught with fuel pumps dying a couple of times, resulting in blown fuses..then caught out with frayed engine harness causing more fuses to blow too, but this evening I found the end of the fuse had mostly disintegrated. Result was no ignition warning lights, no fuel pump, no go up even though starter motor kicked over OK.

I had no indicators either.... Replaced a couple of relays and the ignition module but to no avail. Thought I'd check the fuses once more. They all looked fine but the end had all but disappeared from number 13. Swapped the fuse with another and the old girl came back to life instantly.

I replaced the engine harness a while back with one I made up...could not get the original for love nor money. This was an easier operation than I thought. I've had many escapades with this vehicle, that's why I love it so.
It's never broken down more than a couple of kilometers from home in ten years and 150,000K's of motoring.

Ovlov is a 1983 240 Wagon with B23 powerplant and four speed auto.

Default Beware of cheap ceramic fuses!

This tiny item can stop a ton and a half of Swedish steel...

I like this post...it sort of makes me feel stupid. I just remembered that I have a fuse 13 that I need to check in my '82....whoops.
