Clock Gauge
I picked this clock up today... Could some tell me if there is a plate cover that goes over this to make it flush? I already have a working clock on the speedometer panel, but I think these small ones look cool.
Also, which wires can I tap into to get it to work and light up?? Can I tap into the radio?
There's red/black/green wires. Do I splice and connect? As always, directions and photos would be great!!

I just bought this clock (craigslist) along with a tachometer to replace the large clock in the instrument cluster. If you can find a tach, there should be an extra blade connection behind the cluster to hook up the tach. Once the tach is installed, you plug the clock harness into the back of the tach and everything works great. I was lucky enough to get the bezel trim that goes with the small clock. It snaps in place and settles the clock in nicely. I am attaching a pic of what I bought - watch for a tach and bezel on craigslist and other sites.

So youre gonna remove the large clock on the panel and put the tach in there? Can that be done? If not, where are you gonna install the tach?
Im gonna toy around with it on saturday... Gonna just try and tap into my aftermarket radio's power. Just need to figure out which wire to plug in the light...

Volvo has made these gauges completely interchangeable. You'll find that the tach plugs in perfectly where the clock was - same screw pattern, etc.. Then the small clock "piggybacks" the tach - the rear of the tach has the three prongs for the clock harness plug - that's why the harness is so long. But it sounds like you need to rig it some other way in the absence of the tach. I can't help you there - good luck!

It's a no-brainer. All you need to do is find an always hot source of power. Most stuff is switch controlled but there is power to the headlight switch at all times...you need to buy/make a test light. There is a bezel and three rubber feet that hold the gauge in. The dash is quite versatile in the 81+ 240's. The high mount radio can be moved to the lower cuddy and a 3 gauge cluster installed for a total of 5 52mm gauges.
