Default clutch problem

so was going down the road today and my clutch cable decided to snap. when it did heard something drop from my car and go.down the road.. i went back and found it looks like it holds the cable end to the clut h fork. hopefully i did.not lose anything else having a hard time finding pic of assembly just have the haynes manual that seems to show hydralic assembly but not cable type... i have never done a clutch on this car, the thing i am wondering is what would.cause the cable to snap. it seems like the arm is hard to pull.. bad bearing in there? pressure plate shot? i suppose only way to find out is pull trans.. i drove it home with no clutch shifting gears with gas pedal., still drove fine no.slipping so my.clutch should be ok?

Where did the cable brake? Sometimes they corrode inside and snap. You also could have had either the clutch fork or the throw out bearing freeze up . Just get a new cable and install it and if the clutch peddle works OK then it was just a cable issue.
