Hello guys,
I am getting a 1-3-1 code for ignition system RPM signal. I recently purchased this vehicle,(My first volvo!) 91 740 turbo with 4 spd O/D. 119K on it. Where do I get started in order to correct this code? Also, I noticed when switching over to parking lights the headlights stay on, is this normal? Well you're comments and help will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the engine speed sensor is going bad.
Yes if the headlight switch is in the on position they are always on but turn off with the key.

It is on the back of the motor basically the top of the transmission.

Usually when they start going bad the outer sheilding starts falling off the wires.

 

Is there a replacement for this sensor or is it a OEM part?
