Where is the color code on a '90 Volvo 740? I'm having trouble finding it.

 

Under the hood, a stamped metal plate should have a three digit (may be with a dash) code, second row of numbers...

Once you have the 3 digit paint code you can simply go on Amazon or to a dealer store asking for a spray can. Also plenty of online stores now sell kits with both the touch sticks and the rattle cans in the factory code. For example, Try googling "Volvo paint 325" and you'll get a list of places to buy Volvo Pacific Blue touch up (lol, my S40's color..). Also, not sure what year or colors started using clear coat but you may need to buy a can of that as well.

 

Automotivetouchup.com is a good source. They will send you the paint by code in any quantity you wish...

 

note that 30 year old paint may not match the color it was new. a good body shop uses a colorometer and measures the actual color of the paint and custom mixes.
