Default Couple of questions 86 240.

My first question about a wiring issue, trying to determine where the wires all go to, and where I can purchase a new wiring harness. The wires are located on the back of the engine, and they are completely shredded. After disconnecting the wires the starter went out, and after fumbling with them and utilizing latex to wrap them and keep them from shorting, my heater started working. I am interested in learning about everthing this wiring harness powers, but my main concern is finding a place I could purchase a new harness? Another problem that just started last night is that when I turn my car off, it makes an unusual noise that kinda sounds like the car is turning over... Any ideas?

I have the same model you do. The wiring harness powers, like everything. All your internal problems will probably stem from the old wiring harness, I myself haven't replaced mine yet. The harness is a big problem as well as the electrical throughout for our model, poor grounds, bad fuse box, etc.

i might try repairing each wire, as needed
i don't think you will be replacing the harness easily.
i would use heat shrink butt connectors,
and just cut out the bad parts.
they are all color coded,
and a wiring diagram would be a great help.
the funny noise you can hear
could be fuel rushing through the regulator,
could the fuel pump have still been running ?
