Default Crooked Hood (Volvo 740 '91)

Car got hit on the front right side and damaged the hood. Got a new one and on install it's way crooked -- is this due to bent hinges? (Volvo 740 '91)

Measure the distance from the fender edge side to side maybe 3 or 4 places. Measure the width of the hood at the same places. The gap between hood and fender should be 3/16 " on each side. It looks like your fenders may have moved due to the accident. Also check the hinge for damage.

most cars have a certain amout of adjustments that can be done at the hinges - if you loosen a bit can you align the hood better before tightening down?

yeah, the gap from the fender to the cowl looks wrong too. I on longer have any 740/940 to look at, but I'm thinking the fender and cowl were practically touching with hardly any gap (or maybe there was a gasket in there?)

for sure, the gap should be even and balanced, and the front edge of the hood shoud exactly line up with the front edge of the fender...
