Default 1990 Volvo 740 Wagon headlight trim

I was wondering if anyone knew where to find the trim that is under and to the inside of the headlights? Ming was broken in an accident and I have replaced the fenders and hood but I need to find this trim piece. Also I have a 1990 wagon as noted in the title however The hood I got In the center raised section is skinner than the one previously on the car, everything else matched up aside the width of this raised more prominent center section. The difference is 25 inches vs 22.5 inches meaning that the lines of the hood are coming in narrower than the trim outside the grill. Anyone know what model this hood is from?

well, htere's several versions of the hoods and trim, depends on the headlight configuration and vintage.

this 740 you need the trim piece for, does it have single rectangular headlights, or the quad rectangulars with all the chrome bangles around them, or the trapezoidal lights with the integral fog lights ?

your best bet is a junk yard.

here's a 91 940SE (basically a 760/960 turbo) with the fog lamp configuration, they put this on 740s/940s too but with a different grill and hood.

here's a 92 740 turbo with the single rectangulars (my daily driver)

an earlier 740 with the quad rectangulars

and to really confuse things, here's the euro version

these /all/ use different hoods, hah!

The 1990 is a "one only" year front end. Single large light fits all til 1995 (no fogs) but the hood, the grill are different; not sure about those pieces you need. They can be had from another 1990 740... or may be they are the same as 1991-95 740/940.They are plentiful in the Junk yards--your best bet.

I have single large rectangular headlights (just like you daily Pierce, my car looks nearly identical to yours) Im going to guess the hood came off a 940 as it looks like its slightly narrower in the front however another both my old hood (and thankfully this new one) are both the same length and use a separate cowel (spelling?) because Iv noticed some are all in one.

FYI the car I got the hood and fender from I am returning to part out not this weekend but the following (13th-14th) Its a red turbo 740 wagon if anyone needs some odds and ends removed for their own cars.

ok, A bit of research on my end makes me think that I may have a 740 SE hood and fender.

As far as I can tell the only difference between the two is the center grill and the trim to the left and the right. This is because I installed the headlight from the same parts car and it matched up with the other headlight perfectly and I know the parts car dose not have the fog light setup. I am going to try to grab the grill and left and right trim pieces if they are in decent condition, my fear is they might be broken If so then I will just live with the difference, to me its a glaring imperfection however I have had to point it out to everyone I showed the car to... so many different configurations in such a short time lol how frustrating!

740 SE was a ONE year only option, 1991 to be exact, and the front end is no different than a regular 740 except for the fog lights, side skirts, spoiler, etc. which does not affect the pieces you are after. The fenders, lights, corner lights are the same.

All 740/940s after 1991 have the same front ends with two variations, FOG or NO FOG lights which applies to the 940 only, i.e. 1991 and 1992 740s never had the FOG LIGHTS option. The 1990 front end is different in that it has the GRILLE, the HOOD, those MIDDLE PIECES and other front end hardware different than 1991s and later models.

Now, regardless of the transplants your car might have had, those middle pieces you need are either from a 1990 or from a 1991/92 740 (same as a 940 NO FOG front end), so, only TWO possibilities.

The pictures in the previous post:
#1:FOG LIGHT front end (1991 940SE). #2: 1992 740 NO FOG front end. #3: 1989 or previous 740. #4: Euro spec 740 lights.
What you have is something like pic #2 except the 1990 parts are slightly different.

hopefully my uploads have worked, its a before and after and getting ready to spray the front bumper (so please ignore the green tape) from your information added I guess its just the difference between a 1990 740 Turbo Wagon and a 1991 turbo wagon W/O fogs.

It wasn't an expensive car and I realize its not in show condition but it looks acceptable, runs good, and cruises the freeway effortlessly which is a must for me. It can hold my two dogs and for humans comfortably, it has a class two hitch because of the v8 can tow a utility trailer alright. For me its everything I need and a bit more! plus its a bit unique.

For the front bumper im going to use Plasti-Dip for a few reasons, first I already did the rear in with it, second its cheap, and third it looks like I put a brand new bumper on the back. Im just waiting for my order of four cans to come in through Amazon as my local home depot it ALWAYS out of stock and it took me a little over 1/2 a can to do the rear.

the 1991 SE was a 940, not a 740, my son had one. its really a 960 Turbo, much like the 760 Turbos. it has the aluminum hood, with the hidden wiper cowl and gas lifts instead of springs. In fact ours, while badged 940SE on the rear, said 965 on the number plate on the hood support.

There is a '91 940SE like you describe, AND there is a '91 740SE which was to commemorate the last year of the 740 Turbo Sedan. This had an Aero Kit, rear trunk spoiler, fog lights, etc. It only came in white, red or black. Here's what it looks like:

Pulled the parts yesterday (sooooo hot outside) and I pulled the vin tag off so I could search it today and find out exactly what I was grabbing parts off of. It was/is a 1992 Volvo 740 Turbo wagon in red with and auto trans. I got the headlight trim and everything I need to make it right on the front side. The only problem is the outer grill surround is broke and gone on the drivers side of it so I will need to source another. Other than that I got a lot of clean nice parts! missing some key things I would have liked to get (horn, wheels and tires, clean front seats ect) but got some things I was not expecting like a clean dash! as mine like the the ground of the salt flats
