Default Custom Exhaust Tip?

I'm thinking about changing the exhaust tip on my 245. I want something that has a little more sound. I've even heard they give you 2-3 hp boost which...is better than nothing . To get a new sound, would I have to change the entire muffler too? or is just the tip? would I have to cut off the tip then clamp it, or just clamp right over the muffler I have?

Also, can anyone recommend me a nice muffler tip that would have a good sound? I was looking at IDP's, I think its called "Big Bore"? but thats pricy for a foot long pipe. Thanks in advance

1. An exhaust tip doesn't provide sound and if it does it isn't major.

2. An exhuast tip will not and does not provide any power increases.

3. If you want more sound your going to have to replace the entire muffler with a new one.

*In this case any performance muffler will do. Magnaflow, BORLA, Flowmaster, Etc...

4. If you want performance your going to have to replace the entire catback with an upgraded one.

*In this case it depends on two thing.

a. Are you N/A? If you are you want back pressure thusly you want a catback system that is 2.25" piping to a baffled muffler such as a Flowmaster.

b. Are you turboed? If you are then you want more free flowing thusly you want a mandrel bent catback system 2.5" piping to a free flowing straight through design muffler such as a BORLA or Magnaflow.

If you just want an exhaust tip unscrew the one from your car and screw the new one on.

An exhaust tip will not change the sound.

An exhaust tip that you get from Autozoneand screw set screws to cinch it on will not change the sound. If you go to a performance shop like Tennessee Speed Sports or Hunter's Custom Automotive in Nashville TN you will find that there is such a thing as an exhaust tip that is welded on that does change the sound. Like I said I had one....

An exhaust TIP will not change the exhaust note at all. A different diameter pipe, resonator (or removed), different muffler, addition of a cat, high flow cat, catless, dump, or external wastegate will change the sound.

I cut out my rear muffler, and right where the two pipes where cut I joined and clamped back together.
Now I have an exhaust tip below the center of my bumper and a nice deep throaty sound =D

Ok a tip might produce like some sound but it isn't that noticable. It is worthless.

Those have resonators in them. So it isa resonator with a tip, not just a tip. Hence the reason that it sounds different.

It IS a resonator too, hence the reason that it changes the exhaust note. A tip by ITSELF can not change the note of the exhaust.

Well, if you picked up a whistler tip from autozone, that would change the note of the exahust.
