Default dashboard cracks

Does anyone know a trick or two to stop cracks in the dashboard from getting any larger? I have a 1988 240 that is going to need some TLC.

My 1990 DL 240 wagon has a cracked dash, I opted for the quick, easy and cheap method. I bought a dash mat!

My interior is blue, combine that with the Georgia sun and it plays havoc with the dashboard.

No. Once they start, it's over. The thing I found that starts the process is continued application of products like armor all. It weakens the vinyl and makes them easy to crack. Don't put pressure on them (keep feet off the dash), try to keep them out of direct sunlight.

The only solution is a reskinning.

There are companies out there that will "fill the cracks" for a price. Call a place that does interior repairs and ask them.

I've done this a few times now (different dashes, lol. Not the same one multiple times)...works well enough IMO: http://www.ehow.com/how_2077554_repa...dashboard.html

When I bought my '88 240 in '94, it had no cracks in the dash. One morning I noticed just the start of a little bitty crack just above the radio. I thought: "Hmmm, I should give that a little attention when I get back this evening." When I got back, the crack was huge and went all the way to the windshield. YIKES. All in one day. So now, it's 2010, I guess after 16 years, I should probably get around to fixing it. lol
