Default Dies and no start

Thanks and what a great site. Have read and more confused than ever. No one in my area has obd equipment. So its me. Cranks runs dies. May or may not restart. Runs fine then rough then dies. Wait and it will restart run then die. Replaced plugs wires cap and bug. New radio suppression relay, fuel pressure valve on the fuel rail, fuel relay in fuse tray. Both new and old relay click when turning key on and when car dies. Pulled fuse tray and checked under for bad connections or wire(previous comment from cybertrac). Main pump comes on for the initial second and rear pump is running when car runs. Put in 1/2 tank of gas to be sure. Now all the talk of weak tank pumps. Can rear pump be tested for weakness. I'm fairly sure I replaced the main pump 7-8 years ago. And I hear it prime. During these starts it can run smooth like a singer then rough to dead in either case. I can smell the " not enough gas smell". Now you've really screwed me up by talking ecu and ICU. I keep reading and replacing. Its got to stop somewhere. After reading think it sounds like a weak tank pump. All that I've done to me is necessary maintenance. Relays will live you stranded. After this third wagon a spare fuel relay is wise as others have said. This one 94 940 has 250k and running strong with much repair done. I wish someone could help. I'm not a mechanic but have replaced about one of every thing on 3 wagons. I just need to know what. Thanks everyone. Keep sharing.
