Default Distributor tear down on 87 240

How do you get this metal piece off the shaft? Am I missing something or do I need a puller?

Thanks guys

i put 500k miles on our 240 without ever having to remove or rebuild the distributor beyond cap/rotor/seal.... but I think you have to remove a circlip from the BOTTOM of the distributor and the whole shaft, with the timing rotor you see in your pic comes out the top, then you can replace the seals or whatever.

Pierce, I know I'm doing the wrong thing here and the only reason this piece needs replaced is I bent it not knowing what I was doing. Well now it HAS to be replaced.
I was trying to figure out WHY this thing has no spark. I still don't know but can't move forward until this piece is replaced
If you can hang with me you can probably help me fix this thing but I have to get it back together first.
I didn't see a clip on the bottom of the distributor shaft but I'll look again.
Thanks
Gus

might be easiest to find a JY 240 with LH2.2, which would be 1985-1988 I think, and get the distributor off it.
