distributor rotor
Hi all, I am replacing my distributor cap (orange) and distributor rotor, and I cannot figure out how to remove the rotor. I looked through the Oracle but it doesn't give much info on this AFAIK, it's also on pretty tight. So question is should I force it, or is something blocking it from coming out that I can't see? If so what do I remove and if not what is the accepted manner of removing this thing? TIA edit, doesn't look like the thread shows up in the forum, seems to only be accessible from the main forum page, while it's newest.

re: not showing up, somethign is broken on this board, and the default view is sorting by thread title rather than by newest post first. click on the header over the date column to fix it for one viewing :-/
re: your cap, you don't mention what car... is this a camshaft end distributor like on a 740/940, or is it a vertical block distributor on a 240?
the vertical block style distributors, the cap just pulls straight off, it might be corroded on there, wiggle and yank it straight up. maybe a bit of Kroil (penetrant from the gods) will help loosen it?
the camshaft end distributors, its been a long time since I replaced a rotor, so i don't remember if they are held on by a set screw, or just press fit.

@pierce yes, 1985 volvo 244 orange cap, meant to put the 1985 244 part in there but must have gotten excited ! It is vertical, so I've been pulling on it and trying to wiggle it loose. @bubba240 alright, grabbed it with a pair of keyed/notched pliers and got it loose! the paint job on it made it look ceramic or really delicate, so glad I got it off without breaking it. thanks for your help guys!
