Default distributor wont rotate cant adjust timing

1980 242gt b21

I'm trying to adjust the timing and the distr will not turn even with the hold down bolt removed. i have spayed PB blaster around the base and tapped on the distr with a hammer. It wont budge. any ideas how not to break the distributor.

A bigger hammer. I was going to suggest everything you have already done. Have you let it soak with the blaster over night? Is there only one hold down bolt? My 740 has two, but the distributor is different from a 240 and on the back of head.

Default stuck distributor

it has soaking for over a week. I tried heat, no good
But the bigger hammer worked. I used a pipe wrench, the distributor died but I found a spair just in case.

Were you able to save the distributor ??

Once you sand or scrape it clean, good time to coat the heck out of it with anti-seize !!
