Will be making the nasty dive into the dash to replace the blower motor, resistor, blade wheels, and switch. Does anyone have any suggestions for other items I ought to check/replace while I have the dash apart?

if any connections look corroded, clean them up.

inspect the heater core, those can fail eventually (especially if the coolant changes are neglected), and its a lot easier to replace when you're already in there.

check the conditions of the vacuum spagetti lines that activate the air vents.
