Default Drive Shaft Relpacement

I've got a 1985 245 volvo. I need to replace the central carrier bearing assemble, but then found that I need to replace the section of the drive shaft just after the central carrier bearing.

So first of all, does anyone know if a 1968 1800 volvo DRIVE SHAFT could be used?

Second, if not, then does anyone know where I could find one(not too expensive).

Thanks,

Sora

junk yard part for sure....I heard of a 740 model shaft that works..(well the tranny from a 740 will bolt up to the 240 without doing anything to the drive shaft(certain year?), so I take it you can use the drive shaft from the 740...out at the junk yard but might as well get one from a 240.

2 inch drive shaft or 1.75 inch drive shaft...measure your 240's and measure the 1800' circumference. the u-joints might be a problem? if not you might have created a new swap.

There is a youtube video on how to replace that particular bearing on a 240....not that you don't know, but I came across it and was pretty good.

an 1800 is a MUCH smaller car, I doubt the rear drive shaft would be long enough.

while the 740 is VERY similar to the 240 in many ways, I'm not sure the rear drive shafts are the same length, either.

why does this drive shaft need replacement? U joints shot? that can be repaired with new U joints and someone who knows how to setup an alignment jig and weld properly.
