Default Driver's door window not going all the way up

The window on the driver's door of my '93 940 wagon is stopping about 1/4" from the top now and then the motor starts grinding a broken gear or something. I've taken off the door card, but not only don't know how to access those gears and levers, etc., but am not even sure what to look for. Anyone out there have this problem before and know how to fix it? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Sounds like a worn window regulator. Not sure if '93 are bolted or riveted but it has to come out! I believe there are six attachments (rivets or bolts)...

sadly, the quality of aftermarket window regulators is /awful/ now days. My son replaced the back passenger side regulator on a 1990 mercedes 300E, and the offbrand chinese replacement failed in months.
