The Electric Fan on Front side of Radiator ?
Does this only work when the Air Conditioning is on, or When above a certain temp?
I went to spin it by hand "fingers" with car off and it seemed to have a few spots where it was tight or interfering with its own shroud.........so is there a sure way to run 12 volt directly to it to see it it spins?

It's for the air conditioner. Mine was frozen solid so I took it out all together. The AC doesn't work in my car anyways so it's no big deal for me.
Yah go ahead and throw some power to it, see if it spins. But it's designed to spin the entire time the AC is on. You might want to try that first.

Actually it depends on the car. Mine is not designed to spin the whole time the AC is on. It has a thermo time switch and turns it on depending on the temperature. I have a 91 240
Becareful when checkingthe electric fan. They can come on at any time. You should disconnect the battery when placing the fingers near it.
to test, you have two options. first you can remove the front grill and disconnct the plug from the fan. jumper the fan plug straight to the battery and see if it moves.
second, look on the radiator. there is a sensor thats jam fitted into the radiator and has an electrical plug on it. Jumper the diconnected wire, not the sensor to the battery.
Mine was on the left upper side of the radiator while looking into the engine bay.
Mines from a 89 740 b230f engine non turbo.
still not sure if the sensor works. The fan doesn't come on with the air conditioning. I don't think i've pushed the temperature to the point where the fan comes on. I was thinking of taking a soldering iron and trying to heat the sensor up till the fan came on. I don't want to remove the sensor because it'lll let out too much coolant.
It's an auxillary fan and I havn't found the connector to the airconditioning system. I replaced most of the AC system in class this summer and didn't see any wires that connect to the ac system.
