Default electric cooling fan won't start

i was idling in a parking lot the other day and smoke started to billow out from under the hood, i immediately shut the car off and popped the hood. the smoke smelled electrical and was coming from the electric cooling fan motor. so i uninstalled it and found that the motorhad seized up, so iordered a new one which arrived today, i installed it and connected all of the wires and started the car and let it idle. the temperature kept going up but the fan never kicked on, when i tested the relay it was showing that there was no power getting to the relay. Is there a fuse for the fan relay? could i have melted a wire or something else electrical, why won't the fan turn on? any help would be greatly appreciated as i am unexperienced with volvo's and can't afford to take it to a garage. please help

thank you for your time

Did you check all the fuses?
No power at all to any of the wires?

it's a 1995 850 GLT yesterday i tested the cooling sensor and it tested positive that there was power and when i unplugged it the fan started immediately
when i plugged the sensor back in the fan immediately turned off
i ordered a relay online but when i tried running the car without the coolant sensor it ran very poorly and barely started
i took the red wire from the relay and used a jumper to one of the wires thats connected to the electric fan and the fan started right up

When the fans burn up it usually takes the relay out.
Also if it overheated you might want to replace the thermostat.
