Default failed smog miserably!

So, I filled up her tank and went to the smog station. I had to wait my turn. About 15 minutes later, she failed the emissions. She has high HC and high NO.

So, I called RPR Volvo Parts in Albany and they recommended Ron's Muffler. I took her in for a free diagnostic. Ron's says its just the cat converter. WITH the RPR discount it will cost $380. So, I called around. Tomorrow I will take her to another place in Alameda to look her over (they quoted me $280 for the cat).

Is there anything I should ask them?

Anything knowledge I need before I go in?

just a question...when was your last tune up?

here is mine:

that was done with a fairly recent tune up, ecu/icu chips, 3"exhaust with high flow cat, recent oil change....etc.

Actually, I just bought the car. We got codes 113 and 121 so we changed out the O2 and cleaned the AMM. I have been having issues with the tranny so we dealt with that a little bit (still have issues but that's another post.)

She has the original cat, which is what most everyone is saying to change out. As well as to do a tune-up.
