Default finding an e-brake cable...

Pass rear cable snapped on my 93 940 N/A sedan. I have the solid rear axle but most parts stores think I have the IRS. (I was not even aware that was an option!) Was given a "755mm" cable which has the right ends on it but is about eight inches, at least, too short.

The usual suspects, like rock auto, are no help. Help???

Followup, found what I needed on eeuroparts.com. Local stores probably sold all the live axle cables and just have IRS ones left.

Volvo PN 1387788

$12.70 at TascaParts.com
or $20 at a local dealer.

looks like its for IRS or live axles, as they list 960s in addition to 940s.

FWIW, eeurotech has 'scantech' which is aftermarket and usually OE quality but sometimes sketchy depending on what it is, while tasca *is* a volvo dealer and has the 'real' bluebox Volvo branded parts, which admittedly aren't always as good as they used to be.

btw, if you can get your hands on a 'vadis' CD and get it working (doesn't like MSIE 8+, and probably doesn't like vista or win7, so run it in a win2000 or XP 'VM'), thats the complete volvo dealer parts catalog for all 240's and newer up to 2005, can be VERY handy for finding OEM parts. in 2005 volvo switched to a new parts system thats client-server based and much harder to setup.
