Default Emergency Brake Cable

1998 V70 AWD.
How difficult is it to install an entire new e-brake cable set-up in this car. My handle moves but no brake action. I'll be checking the connections later this weekend but am asking this question in anticipation of having to re-build the setup.
Thanks Much

First check the adjustment under the center console. lift up the arm rest lid. Then remove the cover in the bottom of the hole. You should see the adjustment screw.

If nothing after adjustment then remove the rear rotos and check the E-brake shoes.

I've searched and found this thread regarding emergency/parking brakes. So I'm bringing this back up!!

Does the e-brake lever have to be down or up before I adjust the screw inside the center console? Will the screw be obvious? I hope adjusting screw will work. Not prepared to mess with the shoes in the rear.

Handle down.

Once you remove the cover in the bottom of the Console the screw will be in the front of the hole.

Thanks Tech. So the whole center console needs to be removed correct?

No just the little cover in the bottom of the Cubby at the back of the console. Lift the lid and look on the bottom you will see a little cover that comes out.

Thank you so much Tech. Sorry for any frustrations I may have caused. I'm at work now and don't have my manual to look at. I'm getting to it tonight.

Wow. That would really be appreciated. Can I suggest a walk through of all things related to changing rear shoes? (just in case adjusting only won't work)

Suggestion got but I will most likely be a while before I end up doing one.

It is not very common to have to do it. But if I do one I will make a walk through.

ok I tightened (clockwise) the screw. The car dosen't seem to roll as much after parked. But it still feels as though the brake lever goes up quite a bit, maybe 10-11 clicks. Normal?

have done this today , as allso failed mot on reverse travell , removed rear hubs and cleaned shoes rewound self adjusters , and cleaned all , think i might need new cable as when cables pulled with hand brakes release , wheels turn freely seems to work fine when car on ground but wheels lock when car lifted.
