Default Flame Trap

I am getting ready to dive in and do a bunch of maintainence stuff (water pump, timing belt, some seals) I am also going to do the flametrap. I have read up on its location but have also heard horror stories on removing and replacing it. I bought the kit from IPD that includes the trap, holder and hose. Any hints, pointers and help would be appreciated.

I've got a '93 240 wagon and it was located between the 3rd and 4th intake tube, and there is a hose that runs from in between there to before the throttle body. It is 'hiding' in the hose, If you pull up on the hose right between the two intake tubes it will pop off and ta-da, there it is and you can pull it out. I find it is easier to see it standing on the passenger side of the car reaching over to the intake side of the head. My flame trap was completely clogged and made the engine leak like no other, so hopefully yours is not so clogged. I hope this helps, it was a pain to find it on my car. The bentley was only slightly helpful. Another thing is if you are going to do the timing belt, you are going to have to hold the crank steady when you remove the center bolt. This can be accoplished (if you don't have a manual transmission) without the special tool by removing the protective cover from in between the engine and trans (6 14mm bolts) and putting a flat screwdriver in the flywheel teeth up against the bellhousing. Put it on the drivers side for loosening and passenger side for tightening, this works like a dream with no slipping and no frustration. That crank bolt is TIGHT. Have fun!

Thanks, I already got the tool for the crankshaft pully. I figured it was worth it.
