Default Front strut removal - 95 940 wagon - any0ne-

Can't get strut out. I didn't know that you are supposed to remove the big center nut last on the strut mount at top. I took this nut off without compressing spring no harm done.

I removed all bolts - caliper, tie rod, steering, mount, now my strut just is all loose but won't come out. The cv shaft is nearly touching the ground, might have took off too much. o well. still why is strut not coming out?

When I take it out, should the spring come out with it? The spring seems locked in place somehow?

This sounds EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! Removing the strut retaining nut without compressing, or AT LEAST relieving the tension from the spring, and it NOT RELEASING is like pulling the pin on a grenade and hoping it doesn't go off. You have to take off the nuts AROUND the center nut, WITHOUT disturbing the center nut until the sprig is compressed. You also have to remove anything that holds the strut tube to the knuckle.
I thought the 940 was RWD, so if anything is touching the ground, it's the spindle. Be careful not to damage the threads on the spindle too while you're resting it on the ground.
