Default Front suspension kit: Fcpeuro vs Eeuroparts

Hi again all, I have a '92 Volvo 240 wagon that I'm going to replace the front end bushings on (and struts and tires) and I see that Fcpeuro has a kit for $112 and Eeuroparts has a kit for $97. The reviews on each don't seem to bad, but I was wondering if I could get additional feedback from the forum as to which may be better.. Thanks again,

Nick

Just my 2 cents. I wouldn't buy either. Any suspension parts I try to make sure I get OEM. Any aftermarket rubber bushings I have had experience with last only a year or two. I put on aftermarket sway bar end links and the rubber was cracked within a year. A year and a half after installation the rubber was gone.

I have heard that even when purchased at Volvo these days doesn't guarantee quality rubber but I would use them before the aftermarket variety.

Smile Good point..

That actually helps with the decision..Fcp guarantees everything they sell for life, so it seems worth it to spend the extra few bucks..and since even Volvo doesn't offer that kind of guarantee, I know which way to go now!

FCP is to Target as EEU is to Walmart
I even think they are owned by the same group! so really the same company, but FCP does give that lifetime promise, and they are really good about it...the downside? you have to send the parts back before they will be refunded or replaced. Try to get some of those pressed bushings out without damaging them beyond recognition.

I would use Poly bushings if you can. They will last basically forever! as for engine mounts and such, OEM is best. Ball joints and things of that nature, again OEM is best. But lower control and trailing arm bushings POLY POLY POLY!

Even poly bushings vary in their quality. If you go poly, I would look into IPD for their components. The big downside with poly is that it harshens the ride quite a bit.

Good point! I typically shop at IPD for this very reason. One important part of this is that if you install Firm/New bushings anywhere, any older or softer parts will begin to take more of the load and therefore wear faster.

Default Ah-hah...this helps!

A firmer ride is not something I'm looking for actually..just a smooth compliant ride over the nasty roads that exist in San Diego (the worst in the US I hear). I like IPD as well, but didn't see a kit there that was reasonable, though I have purchased some stuff from there as well.. The rebuild continues!

If that's the case, I would stick with OEM rubber bushings then. FCP carries genuine Volvo. You can also get them through Tasca - which is a dealership that sells online parts.
