I have a 1987 240 Sedan. When I cancel the windscreen wipers, they briefly start another sweep before stopping. Isuspect that it is a switch problem in the wiper box holding the motor. What I need to know is, are there any nasty problems waiting for me, such as flying springs, when I take the cover off the box.

I had this problem with my1979 Volvo 245DL, but my brother fixed the problem without telling me what he did.

The forum hints at the solution, but gives me nothing concrete.

I finally found the time to take it apart and experiement.

The copper contact that presses against the upper face of the box was not making conact. A brief rub with some abrasive paper on the inside of the cover fixed the problem.
