Head Gasket Blown?
I bought a 1991 Volvo 240 from an auction The car would not crank after being jumped off. The odometer shows 147,990.
It acted as though that it was not getting gas so I replaced the fuel filter first.
After rewading online, I replaced the white module behind the Jetronic computer as recommended online.
After I got the car to start, white smoke was coming out of the tailpipe and coolant began to overflow out of the coolant reservoir within five minutes or less.
I checked the oil and the oil was milky looking. I checked the throttle body and it even appears that some of the oil/coolant mixture is getting into the throttle body.
The water pump has recently been replaced.
The car will not idle and has become more difficult to crank. I wonder if it is more than a blown head gasket.
Any ideas?

Bookcase head gasket symptoms. You may be lucky and be able to save the motor--it all depends on how long the water has been sitting in the motor and if it got to the bearings. Unfortunately that's hard to figure out...
