Default headlight wipers.

I never noticed this on my old 240 wagon but this sedan i've got looks like it has holes for headlight wiper motors? I've looked all over the place in the resource thread but I can't find anything for them? I'd like to put 'em in!

Anyone?

How old is the car?

Headlamp wipers/washers were introduced in 1979 on European models with the single rectangular headlamps, but I'm not sure about US models.

I don't think I have ever seen a U.S. car with them. I think they were only avalible in Europe.

It certainly seems that way. There is no mention of them in any of the USspec sheets from 1979 to 1993.

wow...no e-mail notification for threads anymore unless you tell it t do so eh?

it's a 91. I've gone through a few channels here in the Twin Cities and I've not been able to come up with anything either. I can't even find them on line for that matter.

Bill....Do you know of a place a guy could pick up a pair of these? I'd be very interested in picking a set up. I have to assume the European spec would be mountable and wire-able in a US Spec car? Especially given the holes and mounting brackets on the car already.....?

They can be installed ok, sure, but would need to get the motor assemblies, wiring, hardware, AND headlights as the Euro ones are different. They definitely could be had... I am in Europe, and here the junkyards are getting rarer, harder to find stuff. Also, front parts are harder to get used for obvious reasons... Anyway, I'd suggest ebay Europe, I find a lot of weird stuff there but then this whole project won't be cheap... Are you sure it's worth it to you?

I was aware of all the parts needed but the head lights. I'll have to look into that. Consequently, that works into my plan perfectly....I need new head lights. What is different about them?

I heard that. The junk yards in my area are getting harder and harder to find Volvo's in period. Of the 8 yards I went to i found four 240s. I ended up just buy new tail lights instead. At any rate, I knew before making this post that getting these parts would inevitably require me to get them shipped from Europe.
Anyway, I'd suggest ebay Europe, I find a lot of weird stuff there but then this whole project won't be cheap... Are you sure it's worth it to you?
It might not be worth it to buy everything at the same time but to acquire all the necessary parts over time would be. I bought this 240 with the intention of making it a project. I'll be spending an awful lot of time and money on it over the next 5 - 10 years.

ebay Europe...now why didn't I think of that? Thanks!

Ebay Germany has the most car stuff, the problem is that a lot of them don't want to mess with international shipping. Also, they are in German...

HA! LOL.....yeah...i don't really speak German. But My brother in law does....maybe I'll ask him to look it up for me.

I did find a red estate wagon on ebay.Eu that is being parted out. He's getting me a price for the wiper assemblies and heal lamps.
