Does anyone know what headliners from a 940 will fit a '91 740 sedan? I saw a nice replacement at the local pick n pull but it had 3 0r 4 plugs at the rear instead of 1 and the rear lip seemed to hook over the rear roof edging instead of being pressed together with a separate trim piece. Don't want to buy it unless I know it's going to fit. Thanks

 

It should fit albeit with minor mods, for the differences you mention, the dimensions are the same. The 940 headliners are much better than the early pre 1992 cars, 740, etc. Much caution taking it out and in, the sedan is tricky, the wagons are easy. The shell is easy to break especially if it has sunroof.

 

Luckily, it doesn't have a sunroof and I got the old one out without too much difficulty. But it does look like the rear, roof edge where the 940 headliner hooks up isn't there. My 740 is flat against the rear window except for a small space for the trim clips to slide in. So I'm guessing I'd have to cut off the end of the 940's liner where it starts too shape into a hook? But if I do, will it lay flat like the 740's so I can use the trim and clips? Otherwise I could butcher it up and not be able to return it.
