Default Help with acceleration at low speed

hey guys. Im having a problem with my 92 240 wagon. When i start up the car sometimes the idle is rough and the engine almost dies. Then when the car is sitting still, in gear( auto) and i step on the pedal hard and quick (like 80-100%) the car boggs down and it sounds almost like something is popping or tapping. If i gradually apply the gas pedal then nothing happens.

I think it could be that the valves are sticking? like carbon buildup.

Is does this sound right or is there something ovious? or is there a common glitch/problem that is associated with this low speed hard acceleration bogging down?

Thanks
STEVE

It doesn't sound like sticky valves or carbon buildup.

It sounds like a tune-up issue. Maybe a dirty throttle body, or the plugs/wires/rotor need changing.
