Default Help with strut rods!!!!

I'm trying to replace the strut rods on my 1990 Volvo 740 Turbo and I'm having a very hard time replacing it. I watched driftsnlifts video on it and thought it was going to be very simple to replace, but that wasn't the case for me. It seems like the suspension is pushing the wheels into the car. I have photos to reference. I asked a friend and they said I should look into removing the spring from the suspension. I'm pretty sure I don't have to do this.

This is the side with the \"replaced" rod that's half an inch off this is the passenger side

I almost managed to get it in place, but it's 1/2 an inch off from where it needs to be. This is on the passenger side

As you can see in this photo, the wheel is pushed back. It looked like this on both sides

This is the bent strut rod in the driver's side of the car

New rod

Jack it up and put in on jack stands (or a lift) - Strut rods will then install easily and/or you can push/pry the control arm forward to fit. Those were pretty bent! Did the wheels survive?

that one front wheel has a horrible 'taco' on the rim, that coudl blow off the tire at high speed. the other front wheel looks like way low air pressure.

but yeah, with the car on a lift, or up on jack stands, and the tires off the wheels, it should be pretty easy...

I did have the cars on jacks when I tried to replace the rod and the wheels were still in the same position. And to get that first one in I used a jack and a combination of different little tools or items to "force" it into position. I did NOT remove the tires, however. So I had the car raised, but the tires were still on.

Default Rods

Good advice so far. But what you want to do is simply reverse you order of operations and it will fit quite easily!!!

With a shot that hard where you bent the rod I would start looking at what other damage was done. Moving that wheel back that far indicates there may be other damage. See if it can be realigned.
