Holy Crap
Wow not a problem out of the 92 240 for months...the car sits for 4 days without running in semi cold weather and bam!! check engine light comes on when I start it to warm it up. check the codes and I get 311 out of pin 2 and 111 out of pin 6. ok trans speed sensor? what does that really mean? and I cant reset the check eng light by holding switch for 5 seconds light on hold switch again

idles fine, runs well, speedo works odo failed awhile ago, me thinks the little gear is bad. when running jumper in position 2 I get 3-1-1 in position 6 I get 1-1-1
I cant reset the check engine light by holding switch for 5 seconds and illuminating light then holding for 5 more seconds? do I do this with the jumper in either position or no position? key on ? off?

Speedo signal missing is often the connector on the rear end access panel or the actual wiring. The sender itself seldom actually fails. Your car (LH2.4) needs a speedo signal to resume a normal idle when stopping after driving at higher speeds. Also could be a bad ground on the cluster or possibly at the ecu. To reset the OBD it is key on engine off, pin in #2 to reset #2 read out, in #6 to reset #6 read out although you have no codes there so it's a non-issue. Try holding the button down 10 seconds...I've had a few cars that took longer to re-set than the manual calls for.

i have precisely the same issue with my 90 740ti. all the gauges work fine, just the speedo needle jumps and drops intermittently and constantly. when the needle falls, the trip and odo quit rolling as well, diagnostic told me no speedo signal. i puled the sensor and cleaned the terminals and pulled the instrument panel and checked all the connections. problem continues to persist. anyone know of a way to check the wiring from the dash to the sensor?
