Welcome Andrey! So you are in Kiev,Russia? Your car looks great and I can see no rust on the body and doors which is quite normal for old 240s. Just check underneath if its rust free too. Otherwise I dont think there is much to worry about as your car has just 100 000 Kms on it.
They are very easy do it yourself cars and I am sure you will enjoy it.

US$2800 is a LOT for a 30 year old car, but I have no idea what the market is like there.

here, that car would have to be in darn near perfect condition to get anything like that.

I like the white one but the first red one is great too, especially as it has just 100 000 kms. I feel that if that car is in mint condition as you say then the price is ok.

I don't know about the mileage reporting requirements there, actually there aren't any! So, these cars seems nice but one has to do his homework to check them out... And like any 30 year old car, hard to evaluate it by some pictures... East European used car market, scary!

240's were made from 1975 til 1993.
740's were an updated design, made from 1983(?) to 1992.
940's were a minor cosmetic upgrade of the 740, from 1991 to 1995 (later in the world market)

my personal preference would be a 1994/95 940 turbo wagon, ideally in white, with a grey or blue leather interior. in fact, what I have is a 1992 740 turbo wagon, in silver, with a grey leather interior. close enough.

Hey, where is your third brake light?
940 went on till 1998 in Europe, and had some decent Turbo Diesels with a stick... they still bring good money even in Germany, not uncommon to get E8,000 for a nice one.
I have never seen a '94-95 940 with BLUE leather--seen many with grey, beige, few with black. The beige falls apart much worse than the grey... I have '93 with black and is holding up well but the car only has 120k.

heh. the panel inside the tailgate was noisy and loose, so I'd taken it off to repair the mountas, which I did later that day. I'd also just mounted the Hydra 16" wheels with nice new Michelin MXV4 Primacy rubber...

was just about 2 years ago when I got it.

First choice:
Мегафото 9 Фото Volvo 244 1983 for 2400
Second choice:
Мегафото 2 Фото Volvo 244 ЛЮКС 1982...NICEST OF THEM BUT IS DIESEL CHEAPER THERE? I THINK YOU WOULD NEED TO GO ON TO VW DIESEL FORUMS FOR HELP AS THE DIESEL ENGINE CAME OFF A VW...? REALLY NICE CAR HARD TO FIND PARTS MAYBE?
Third choice:
Мегафото 11 Фото Volvo 244 1987 I would pay 1200 max here in the USA...it looks more beat up.

I DRIVE A 79 242 DL but parts are getting hard to find...
IF YOU BUY ONE OF THE NON DIESEL....LOOK AT THIS PAGE ....K-JET.ORG all pertaining to your fuel system...the 87 is Bosch Jetronic system and this site is perfect for troubleshooting.

Wow! Man,you have so many good looking old Volvos to choose from. Should not be any problem with spare parts over there then. When you choose a 240 to test,or maybe a 740 or a 940 remember to go around the car and look for rust and plastic fillers. Use a magnet as sometimes the car may have had an accident and then they use fillers to repair.Check under the car for rust using your hand and a screwdriver to poke up. If there is rust there then your screwdriver will go through. Cars in Ukrania do rust I guess as you use salt in the winter/icy roads.Open the hood and look at the engine. Does things there look clean and well mantained?. and check the oil by the stick. Also check the brakefluid, coolant level, battery condition, hoses and things in general. Is the engine warm and the owner just drove the car? Then be suapicious as he may have driven it to keep it warm for you to come and testdrive.. If every thing is fine go for a long 30-45 min ride.Test everything in the car,the brakes, the acceleration, air condition, wipers, horn, the heater and blower, the defroster, the seatheating, the electric windows and all other electric stuff. Remember the car is 20-30 years old and if anything is wrong it could ruin you.So be careful. If you like the car then park, open the hood and see inside when it runs. All is fine? Check the lights and the signals etc.Turn off the car and start again. Did it start right away? Some old Volvos have problems starting warm, while some have problems starting cold and it could be difficult finding the problem and could cost a great deal in cash to repair. If you done all this checkupp and you like the car, then go ahead and buy it even if you may feel you may need to pay a 100 more than you want.I can see many good Volvos there and you alone over there can decide. All the best but dont buy the 340,360 or 440 which I can see in some pictures. They are not Volvos! They are actually DAF from Holland and Volvo bought the company in the 80s

Super, a lot of a good information.

I can tell you, i am looking for a good car, i liked maybe a 440, not little 340.
But you telling there are not volvos, so what not a super-big car you can reccomend for me?
As i told before no Volvo expirience before at all...

Fuel is very important, so no more that 10 litres per 100/km.
And i have no idea about prices for parts.

Diesel or petrol?

What model is easy to repai by myself?
I have a little expirience with my soviet car, so dont afraid to do some work.

Question to all, as you see links, please give 10 mins of your time, look and tell me what you think will be great first Volvo to pick??

world market early year 240's can be carbureted, too. single or dual side draft SU carbs on a B20 (pushrod) or B21 (SOHC).

to the OP, we really know NOTHING about the car market in Ukraine. An american model 1987 240 with the B230F engine and LH2.2 or 2.4 fuel injection gets about 25 miles/gallon which is 9.5L/100km. The US market /never/ saw any 340 or 440 cars, so we know /nothing/ about them.

US market 760's were either the PRV (Peugeot/Renault/Volvo) 2.8L V6 engine (smooth, powerful, lousy gas mileage) or turbo 4 cylinder (power, lousy gas mileage). they were a 'upscale' (eg, fancier interior) version of the 740.

I've been told to avoid ALL Volvos from 1983 through 1987 due to 'biodegradable wiring harness' issues. Me, I would be looking for a 1990+ 240 or 740/940 with the 2.3L gas engine (B230E in europe, B230F in the US). Since you stated your gas mileage reuqirement, that would be a non-turbo. I have zero experience with volvo diesels, they were pretty rare in the US, they are an inline 6 cylinder version of the VW diesel of the early 80s as used in diesel golfs and such.

My market is crazy, so the prices is - 940 more then a 5 000, i cant afford it.
My budget is 4 000 max, but the plan is to buy smth for 3 000 and change all that needed to be changed.

maybe you can reccomend other car then 740/760, as guys told me previously 340,360,440 are non true Volvo.

what do you think?
