in the 80s, Volvo made 240, 740 (and the more luxury oriented 760). in the 90s, they made 240, 940 until the mid 90s when the FWD 850 came out, later renamed S70/V70 and the rear wheel cars were phased out.

what I think is, I know nothing about Ukraine and its used car market, nor cost of things like engine and transmission repairs. we're talking about 25 year old cars here, no matter how nice they look, and how well they've been maintained, things are going to break. around here (California), a blown head gasket can easily cost over $1000 to get fixed if you're not able to do that yourself, and a transmission? forget it.

 

Just look for the 740 or the 745. Maybe a 240/245 from 90-91 is OK but the 740 series from 90-91 with B230F engine is a much better ride. Dont think of 760 cause they are V6 and take a lot of fuel and repairs are very expensive.The 240 and 740 are very very easy cars to repair and maintain. And they run and run and run with just a litle love and care. We CANNOT recomend you cars as we do not have them here to look and test. You only MUST go and see them and test them. A good looking car in picture may be a wreck under the hood while a car with poor paint could be a gem inside. So YOU must go and check things out and we CANNOT recomend things. I can see that old Volvos are expensive to purchase there. And I cant see any 240-740 models from 1990 and later in those links you sent us,so if I would go and see one for a testdrive I would choose the 240 you posted first with only 100 000 kms (62000 miles) and in good condition and good service history. 100.000 kms is peanuts for a Volvo as they can run 5-6 times that much,600.000 kms on the same motor with little love.Now go out and get that car and then post us pictures of you as a proud owner of that car and come and join our Volvo family.
