Default How to clean out drain holes under vent hood intake below windshield ,?

Had so many leaves getting into my vent cowling area so I put a fiberglass piece of window screen over the top of the cowling to prevent it, now have to unscrew the vent cowl remove it and hope I can get it back on correctly, can I vacuum all the dirt and leaves that have gotten into the drain holes or can I just flush them with a hose ? Do they make a screen with strong magnets to place over the top of the vents to prevent this the fiters under the vents seem to fall down, and hard to blow out as well.

Had those scoops, everybody dreams of them, but they actually get packed with leaves and snow, and whatever, even worse than the regular grilles... Not worth it.

here are some others. crazy pricey though.

we have the maple tree 'spinner' season upon us. they are little buggers and get into the cowl en masse.
i covered my vents with tinfoil where the car is parked but it is not ideal. think i will just cover up with some rags.

I really doubt those cost $100 to make, one of these days I'd like to break into the Volvo aftermarket myself and offer plastic accessory parts at more reasonable prices.
