How do I get my dead 940 out of Park and into neutral?
Hello,
Subject pretty much says it. My 1995 940 wagon is headed to the scrap yard. Battery is dead, dead! Alternator isn’t working either I don’t believe. I need to get it into neutral to get it towed.
I tried the shift lock button and it basically disintegrated when I touched it. (It’s been sitting for a few years now.)
What are my options for getting it to roll? My landlord wants to drop the drive shaft. Anything simpler than that we can try first?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin

Sorry for the late reply. When people offer guidance I don't like to appear to go silent. There was some dead air there while I went on a spur of the moment trip. Since your reply I've seen some pics and videos of this transmission linkage. Looks pretty simple. I'm going to get the car stable/secure and try to move it into neutral, using the instructions you provided. Thanks so much for the tip!
Cheers,
Kevin
