Default How do I replace my engine mounts.

Alright, I need to replace my engine mounts, because in the process of replacing my transmission mount I discovered I could not get the transmission to line up with the new mount no matter what. The whole driveline is simply one inch to the left of where it should be. So, I'm replacing my engine mounts too. First though I'd like to know where they are, and also if I can do this with only a floor jack because I don't have enough money to buy any more tools. Does anyone have any instructions? My shop manual simply doesn't mention them.

Basically loosen the engine mounts, jack up the motor, remove them and replace. Then tighten everything back down.

Also doing a third engine mount is a good idea at that time.

1. Cut an old engine mount as close to the metal plate as possible. One metal plate should still be secured to the rubber.
2. Unmount the engine and hoist it up slightly.
3. Position the newly cut enginemount under the corner of the oil pan on the right side of the engine(exhaust side). rest the mount on the cross member which the engine mounts are bolted to.
4. Drill a hole in the cross member so that the cut engine mount can be bolted through the crossmember and the corner of the oil pan will rest on the rubber of the cut engine mount.
5. Bolt the cut engine mount to crossmember and lower engine and refasten engine mounts.
