Volvo 940 - If you are reading this because you want to install a new water pump on a volvo 940 or stopping one from leaking. I have replace like three cause I didn't figure this out. Look at your water pump. You will notice that there are two bolt holes that are oblong. These are the two you are going to put in place first to hold your main gasket and your upper gasket in place. They are oblong for a reason so the holes line up before you put in the other bolts. i assume you got the tube on the left put in with it's 'o' gasket on too. Now and this is critical, just make sure your top o-ring gasket is in position. Now take a two by four and make seasaw lever under the car. Cut a small 1inch wide piece of wood to length, to go up from the seesaw to the bottom of the water pump. You are going to then step on the seesaw lever and PUSH the water pump up so that you snug the upper gasket and then put in the top right bolt first. Then the other bolts should go in fairly easy. If you didn't keep track of which bolt came out of which hole just try a few different ones on the top right bolt hole. Now you have a leak free water pump because you didn't rip the paper gasket :-)
