Default I have 1986 240DL that does not start

I have 1986 240DL that does not start in cold, damp weather, between 30 to 50 degrees. It starts when it is colder and it starts when it is is warmer. It just will not start when it is damp and in the above temperature range. It is very annoying. What could it be?
thank you,
Carlo

What does it do? Does it turn over? What have you checked/not checked yet?

It cranks just fine, and can smell gas after a while of trying to pump the peddle. It just doesn't start up. Then I will leave it alone for a an hour or so and then it will start right up.

the damp weather makes me think you have bad plug wires. (shorting out in damp weather) get a spray bottle of water and gently mist around them at night with car running. If they are shorting out you will see it. Would not hurt to change the cap and rotor as well. I use oe wires but whatever you get, get good ones. Since you smell gas it is most likely ignition. Could also be faulty coil.

Plug wires, Dist. cap. Sounds like moisture problem.
