I need some direction please 240 wagon
I posted but this is the latest up date on my '92 240 wagon auto matic
I had new starter, new plug wires, new distributer cap, new rotor, new coil,
air cleaner is clean. Starts up instantly, idles smoothly, but no power, top speed 10MPH, When I floor it I hear a lite popping from air cleaner not the sort of thing you'd get with a crossed wire or out of time, but a too lean popping.
Brings me to the conclusion, either fuel pump or fuel filter.
Your thoughts direction? I'm not fond of being a parts changer in the elusive search for faulty part. Help me to pin point. 4bnbad

Popping through the air cleaner may indicate a burned valve or carbon crud stuck on a valve. Do a compression check, you may have more than one problem. Also pressurizing the cylinders aka leak-down test can tell you more.
Check valve timing, maybe the timing belt jumped or tensioner a bit.
