Default ignition problem please help!!!!

I have a 1987 740 GLE and the only key I have broke in half. I am trying to take the ignition cylinder out and I can't figure out how to get it out. If you have any suggestions I could really use them. Thank you

joe

Disconnect battery neg lead.
Remove the trim panel from below the steering column.
Disconnect the multi-plug from the ignition switch.
Remove the two screws which secure the switch to the steering lock.
Withdraw the switch.
When refitting, the hole in the centre of the switch is shaped so that it will only engage with the driving spindle in one position.

You will have to use a chizel or a punch to get the old screws out.

They are snap off screws.

When they get installed the Heads break off when they are tight.

If half the key is in the ign cylinder you can get it out by carefully grinding a hacksaw blade so you just have a row of 5-8 teeth real skinny push in above or below key and teeth will grab and pull key out. Dealership can make new key from vin #.
