is it impossible
guys the auxillary fan conked out on me. It looks like a short in the power wires to the motor. insulation is old, craked and flaking off. Is it possible to remove the covers on the electric motor and put new power wires in if the rest of the motor is still fine. If so, how should I go about getting the cover plate off without messing the entire piece up.
740 series.
I'd like to avoid spending the $100 or more for the new fan, since I seem to have a possible rear main seal and transmission leak that needs repairing.

Me, I'd probably just grab a fan from the wreckyard to get myself back on the road and then try whatever looks right to repair the old one. About 35 bucks, in my part of the world. If you screw it up somehow you will at least have learned what not to do
thanks, I was tring to avoid those places, the ones around here don't seem to have volvo's and the place were I have been stalling to get a wiper blade from is in oklahoma. if they still have the parts. at 35 with shipping I might as well get aftermarket.
Still, if anyone has any ideas on how to get the plates apart without killing the motor that would be great.
